Science of Learning

Recent research in the science of learning highlights the power of the “protégé effect”—a phenomenon where learners deepen their understanding by teaching others. Studies from Stanford University found that students who taught information to virtual characters, known as Teachable Agents, put in more effort and retained information more effectively than those who studied for themselves.

This approach activates deeper cognitive processing, strengthens memory, and fosters a more meaningful grasp of concepts. Educators are increasingly applying this strategy in classrooms by encouraging peer teaching, discussion-based learning, and interactive AI tutoring platforms.
